Open, active, connected.
At St. Paul’s Preschool, our approach to early childhood growth focuses on play and creativity. Our classrooms are vibrant, colorful, and staffed with eager and attentive caretakers.
In the Blue Ridge region, where humanity’s connection with nature is especially strong, special emphasis is placed on learning about the living things which populate our world. We have a small garden on premises growing herbs, flowers, and vegetables. Our Pre-K students have the opportunity to cultivate and care for the garden, a hands-on learning activity which helps foster special consideration for our environment.
We strongly believe that motion and physical activity are essential for children’s mental and physical well-being. As such, our facility has two outdoor playgrounds, a small field, and a large indoor activity room. Students have ample time and space to frolick, explore, and jump for joy – with careful and caring supervision.
Affirmation and inclusion are also critical to our work. Our staff are considerate and accommodating to each child’s unique needs. We cherish each and all of our students, and celebrate diversity along all lines – faith, ethnicity, ability, gender identity, economic status, and more.

Our relationship with St. Paul’s church.
While our particular faith in love and service girds our commitment to children, our teaching and learning activities are largely secular. Our Preschool is attached to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, an open and loving congregation working to bridge generational divides & heal the church’s relationship with LGBTQ+ people. Preschool families are always welcome, but never obliged, to join St. Paul’s UMC in community, service, and worship.
We are excited to join you and your children on the path to kindergarten. If you are interested in visiting or enrolling in St. Paul’s Preschool, please contact our Preschool Director, Beth Hook, at the phone number or e-mail address listed below.
