United Methodist Women

A voluntary membership organization of women interested in developing their spiritual life and addressing the injustices of women and children in today’s world.

Purpose: “United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.”

Membership: Membership is open to all who support the Purpose. Members are expected to attend meetings as able, accept leadership tasks on occasion and make an annual pledge for the support of the local and national organization. Visitors are always welcome.

Meeting:
1st Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am at 2nd floor lounge at Brooks-Howell Home at 266 Merrimon Avenue. Programs provide fellowship, information and inspiration.

Activities:
Local: Packing Emergency Kits for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief);    corresponding with two persons in prison; providing cloth grocery bags for United Methodist Community Food Bank in Willow, Alaska; support of community outreach programs; participation in Reading Program; attendance at Church Women United and connectional United Methodist Women events.

International: Through the national and worldwide United Methodist network, United Methodist Women are connected with and provide financial support for programs and projects in over 100 countries, and for 97 National Mission Institutions in the U.S. Many of the projects were founded by our predecessors.
