RECONCILING STATEMENT
We, the members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, are a warm and welcoming congregation. We believe that all people are created in the image of God and of sacred worth. Following Jesus Christ’s example of love and inclusion, we seek to embrace and learn from diversity, celebrating the spirit of God in everyone.
We welcome and affirm people of every age, mental and physical ability or illness, race, ethnicity, immigration status, economic status, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, educational level, addiction, marital status or family make-up. We will work towards full inclusion of all people in the United Methodist Church, including marriage equality and the ordination of our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual siblings.
St. Paul’s is a loving congregation that seeks to love God and love our neighbors. Though we are a small, older congregation, we welcome and appreciate diversity. We embrace those who are differently-abled with our beloved Cartwright Class that has been and is an integral and active part of our church since 1975. We also work to build bridges along multi-ethnic and multi-cultural spiritual experiences. This is reflected in the stained glass window in our sanctuary that intentionally features children of different skin colors.
Many in our congregation are deaconesses, home, and global missionaries who have traveled the world and spread the good news of Jesus Christ. In addition, our United Methodist Women’s group is an integral part to the work and life in local and international mission of the United Methodist Church, supporting women, youth, and children around the world.
We care deeply about the children in our community, as our Preschool fosters an environment for creativity and growth. We have a Babies, Equipment, And Resources, “B.E.A.R. closet,” which helps families take care of their babies by supplying them with the basic necessities they need early in life. We welcome donations of resources such as time, finances and new or gently used baby essentials.
You are welcome to join us as we witness God at work in our world. We seek to serve our community through sharing the light of Jesus Christ with others.
